Ad Vanderveen and Kersten de Ligny

After almost five years, the Kleine Reihe is bringing Ilmenau audiences a reunion with Ad Vanderveen and Kersten de Ligny.
This time they are guests with a concert on Thursday, November 9, at 8 p.m. in the “Kleinod” cabaret.
The prolific songwriter is once again presenting a new album to the public this year entitled “Only Olney”, which is dedicated to one of his sources of inspiration, the songwriter David Olney. Doing his own thing, staying true to himself, striving for truthfulness – these are Vanderveen’s themes. Although he was born Dutch, half of his family comes from Canada. And it is obviously precisely those genes that have audibly prevailed! Since the early 90s, he has been carrying his very personal musical message across the relevant club scene in Central Europe, and later across many borders into the world.

With more than 20 albums under his belt, Ad Vanderveen is now regarded as one of the best European musicians with a solid relationship to American singer/songwriter culture. He has been on the road as a solo artist since the early 90s and has worked with musicians as diverse as Al Kooper, Al Perkins and Herman Brood. With his duo partner Kersten de Ligny, he has also delighted fans in Thuringia and Saxony with wonderful concerts. Ad Vanderveen accompanies himself on the guitar and also plays the harmonica. His effortless, concise vocals are pleasantly reminiscent of the “acoustic” Neil Young, the young Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Vanderveen’s multi-faceted repertoire contains pretty much everything you would expect from the “acoustic” band: excursions into country, classic folk and all the virtues of the old singer-songwriters. In addition to folk and country songs, the program also includes wonderful ballads.
