The Summer Cinema 2023 will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 and Thursday, July 13, 2023, both on the Ehrenbergwiese of the TU Ilmenau. Admission 20:00, start of film screening: approx. 21:45, music program: 20:30 -21:30

The traditional open air summer cinema of the Hochschulfilmclub e.V. goes into the next round!

In a summer evening atmosphere we present on 12.07. the action blockbuster Bullet Train in OmU (original sound with German subtitles) and on 13.07 our traditional short film night.

Grab your blankets, camp chairs or couches and join us for a relaxing evening on Ehrenbergwiese.
We will provide you with a selection of drinks and snacks.

Note: Experience has shown that it can get a bit chilly late in the day, so warm clothing is recommended.

Note: In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the Helmholtz lecture hall. This will be announced via our social media and website during the day of the event.

We are pleased to welcome Peter and the Road again this year as the musical supporting program. From 20:30 to 21:30 this will provide the right mood for the film.

BULLET TRAIN (OmU)

After a career break, the unlucky hitman “Lady Bug” (Brad Pitt) fills in for his sick colleague Carver. The mission seems simple: get on the extremely fast Shinkansen train (the so-called bullet train), steal a briefcase full of money and get off at the next possible station. The only problem: the briefcase is currently in possession of “Lemon” (Brian Tyree Henry) and “Tangerine” (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), two assassin brothers on the way to their employer. It doesn’t take long to become apparent there is more at play than money and they might not be the only interested party…

From director David Leitch (“John Wick”, “Deadpool 2”) comes another outstanding action film, which captivates its audience with the setting of a Shinkansen as the main location for the fun story with once again thrilling fights. This unique setting makes for extra innovative and well-choreographed hand-to-hand combats, combined with twists, entertaining situations and witty dialogues that arise from them. The perfect movie to enjoy with your friends on a big screen under the summer night sky.

There will be another edition of the Short Film Night in the summer semester!
As part of the second day of the summer cinema, the University Film Club would like to bid a fitting farewell to the past semester with the short film night and offer a little distraction before the upcoming exams. Grab your picnic blanket or camping chair and enjoy the pleasant summer evening atmosphere.
On this evening you can expect original international short films, which will be presented in three sections of 45 minutes each.
Whether romance, drama, horror, flat or black humor – everyone gets their money’s worth and no one comes up short.
We look forward to ending the semester with you at the traditional Summer Cinema and Short Film Night.
