Once again, the Jazzclub Ilmenau received the Applaus Award from the hands of Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth in the category “Best small venues and concert series” for its high-quality, trend-setting and creative program concept in the previous year. The focus was on criteria such as appropriate conditions for the performing artists and a diverse cultural, social and sustainable commitment.

The APPLAUS awards are presented in three main categories and three special award categories, each with prize money of up to 50,000 euros. A total of around 2.4 million euros in prize money is available, making it the highest endowed cultural prize in the Federal Republic of Germany. Several award winners are honored in each category. In each main category, there is also an unendowed main prize with the title “Best Live Music Program”, “Best Live Music Venues” or “Best Small Venue or Concert Series”. Special prizes will also be awarded for “Awareness”, “Inclusion” and “Sustainability”.

This award once again demonstrates the importance of the voluntary association for the cultural life of the region.
