Film evening in Ilmenau: No country for no one - the isolation of an immigration country

Germany is at a historic turning point: for the first time since 1945, a resolution on migration policy will be adopted in the Bundestag in 2025 – with the support of the AfD, which is being monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution due to its far-right activities. The declaration on limiting immigration envisages, among other things, the complete closure of Germany’s borders. There are signs of a political paradigm shift: away from protecting refugees and towards national isolation and deterrence.

The documentary “Kein Land für Niemand” accompanies rescue missions in the Mediterranean, tells the stories of survivors and shows how political decisions in Germany contribute to the disenfranchisement of refugees and deepen social divisions. The film poses the central question:
Is migration the crisis – or is it our answers to it?

We are showing the documentary in cooperation with Flüchtlingsrat Thüringen e.V., Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen e.V., ISWI e.V. and Hochschulfilmclub Ilmenau e.V.. The screening will be followed by a discussion with guests.
