Du Meine Seele Singe – Luther Revisited
Interpretations and improvisations on chorales by Martin Luther
with Klaus Wegener & Stefan Nagler
On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in Jena, Klaus Wegener (saxophone) and Stefan Nagler (organ) dedicated themselves to the arrangement of Luther chorales. Under the titles “Skandal um’s Abendmahl” and “Taufe wozu?”, they created wonderfully harmonious and modern interpretations for saxophone and organ of well-known and lesser-known Luther chorales.
In this extraordinary project, the chorales are performed in a completely new way: passionately, improvised and with a personal touch. The sonorous combination of saxophone and organ sheds a fresh light on the melodies and invites you to rediscover the spiritual depth of the chorales.
The close bond between the two musicians and their creative interplay lend each concert a special atmosphere – full of warmth, spontaneity and the joy of musical discovery.
Klaus Wegener – Saxophone
Saxophone teacher at the Jena Music & Art School (tenor & alto saxophone), active in jazz, church and ensemble work. He combines baroque, funk and swing with improvisation – known for his virtuoso, creative and rousing playing style.
Stefan Nagler – Organ
Church musician and organist, active in Luther-Revisited and other church music projects. He interprets Luther chorales with theologically sound improvisation and brings warmth, depth and emotional resonance to every concert.
