The donations from the benefit concert will go to the Infrastructure for Rural Communities program, one of three programs at Engineers Without Borders.
The program describes itself as follows:
“In our ‘Infrastructure for Rural Communities’ program, we work together with our local partners to improve the living conditions of every person in rural areas of the Global South.” There are currently 15 active projects within the program, one of which is managed by the RG Ilmenau. The project “Malawi: Power supply and sanitary facilities for a cultural kitchen” has been managed by the Ilmenau regional group since December 2023. The aim of the project is, together with our partners Shorten the Distance e.V. and the Evangelian Lutharian Development Service (ELDS)to equip a cultural center in Malawi with a sanitary facility and a photovoltaic system for decentralized power supply. Ingenieure ohne Grenzen e.V. is a non-profit and independent development cooperation organization. Together with its local partner organizations, it supports people in the Global South where technical cooperation is necessary and possible.
The work of Engineers Without Borders focuses on establishing a basic supply of water, electricity and sanitary facilities as well as building and expanding educational institutions. The organization also carries out educational work in Germany in the areas of STEM, global learning and integration.”
